A More Fragmented World: Implications for Portfolios

By The Atlas Research Team · 12 min read

The post-war architecture of global trade and capital flows is giving way to a more contested, multipolar order. For investors, that shift changes where risk concentrates and where opportunity emerges.

We see three forces at work: a realignment of supply chains around resilience rather than pure efficiency, a slower but more durable reallocation of capital toward productive assets, and a technology cycle that is compounding faster than institutions can adapt to it.

Portfolios built for the last two decades of falling rates and open trade are not automatically built for this one. Diversification, discipline and a willingness to hold uncomfortable positions matter more, not less.
